THE DONATIONS ARE THROUGH!

Through fluctuating dollar/pound conversion rates and Paypal's fees, the total amount donated was $4674.00.

lizardspots: progress

Hi guys. Am posting to give an update of what's been going on with the Paypal issue.

I created a new bank account (specifically for this purpose) at HSBC. This took longer than I thought, because I already have 2 bank accounts to my name, and having another account at another bank was considered way dodgy. :/ I then verified one Paypal balance with this new bank account (art2therescue@gmail.com) and sent in a request to have the money (at last) to be transferred to the charity. I sent in the request in mid March. I didn't recieve any reply or acknowlegdement of my email, so in mid April I emailed again to ask about the progress of the transfer. I was then sent an email with some forms attached, saying that I had to fill them in and provide an $80 transfer fee so that the money could be transferred to my own bank account.

This was the exact same email I was sent last October, and I'd been trying to jump through all the loop holes to avoid this $160 transfer fee ($80 per account) and to avoid having the money come into my personal bank account. I guess there's no continuity about who deals with customer enquiries at Paypal. Argh. So I've decided, to hell with it, I just want to get this over with, $160 is nothing compared to a completely ridiculous delay in sending charity money.

I'm afraid I haven't got round to filing this new transfer request (plus transfer fees) because school work and exams have taken over me the last two months. But the earliest I will be free to sort this out (fees be damned) is within a couple of weeks, the latest is at the end of July.

I'll keep you all up-to-date when I have any (positive, hopefully) news.

lizardspots: Update: paypal

Hi, guys. I have sent in a formal request to have all the money transferred from our paypal accounts to Tsunami Relief. The customer service person assured me it'll be accepted, but that it'll take some time for them to process the request because of admin etc. *rolls eyes* I'll let you all know ASAP when the money has been transferred, since they seem to be taking their sweet time about it.

Again, my apologies for being a lazy arse and a bit stupid. Heh.

lizardspots: Donation process

Hello, all. Don't mind me, this is just a post so I can log all the donations that have been officially sent to UNICEF. As you know, Paypal are money-making bastards so I'm having to juggle around with three accounts and stagger the donations accordingly. Grrr.

Right, here we go.

[+] 15 Jan '05 - art2therescue@## to *UNICEF* - $250

[+] 20 Jan '05 - art2therescuecredit@## to tanya.rahman@## - $250 + $250
[+] 20 Jan '05 - tanya.rahman@## to *UNICEF* - $250 + $250

[+] 25 Jan '05 - art2therescuecredit@## to tanya.rahman@## - $250
[+] 25 Jan '05 - tanya.rahman@## to *UNICEF* - $250

[+] 16 Feb '05 - art2therescue@## to *UNICEF* - $250 + $250

I can't make anymore donations at the moment, and I've emailed Paypal Customer Service to ask if they'd remove their bloody 'sending limit' so we can donate in one go. Blast it. >:0

The wonderful waccawheels also donated $110 <333!

We'll lose about 3.5% of all credit card payments from Paypal's processing fees, so the total we've made is...

(96.5/100 x 5045) + 1475 = $6343.43!!

Shipping info is here. (yes, I was a bit lazy this time and couldn't be bothered to add the shipping info into this post. blahh)

Payment instructions:

The winning bidders will each receive an e-mail from karabou in the next 36 hours, containing reminders of the donation amount and the piece you chose. Your donations must be made within a week's time.

NB: Due to technical difficulties, send ALL payments to art2therescuecredit@gmail.com. You don't have to pay by credit card if you have the means to do otherwise. :)

You MUST also use the following template when Paypaling:

Subject: For [picture's name], by [artist's name], [amount bid].
Note: Winner's LJ username, your mailing name & address.

If your donation is not made within one week from today, your bid will be void and the piece will go to the next-highest bidder.

After your donation has been confirmed, karabou will get in touch with the artist whose work you have won. You and the artist can then negotiate how much shipping charge you need to Paypal to them AND give them your exact mailing address!! Once the artist has received shipping (in some cases where the artist is not charging for shipping within certain regions this may not apply to you), they will send you their work immediately.

If there are any questions, you may post them here, or e-mail karabou. Thank you!

karabou: more e-mailing questions

I've received several e-mails regarding how to contact the artist whose work you've won to ask about shipping charges. All you need to do is check the person's livejournal userinfo page and they should have it listed. I would include everyone's e-mail addresses in the e-mails I send out, but I do a LOT of e-mailing, and looking all that up and finding links that the winners can find themselves would just take way too long for me... I'm sorry.

If they don't have an e-mail address listed, then yes, e-mail me. (Artists, please make sure to have your contact info listed on your userinfo pages.)

Thanks! <3

lizardspots: *waves big banner breathlessly*

STOP PRESS!!

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MORE PAYMENTS TO art2therescue@gmail.com UNTIL AFTER 8TH FEBRUARY. YOU MAY SEND PAYMENTS TO art2therescuecredit@gmail.com UNTIL THEN, EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT USING A CREDIT CARD.

I'm sorry for this mess-up, but Paypal has put in some stupid 'receiving limit' on free accounts. Grrr.
